Getting to Know GRAN Issues

We invite you to dig deeper into GRAN issues through these upcoming and previously recorded webinars and online events and resources.

  • The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Hidden Politics and How to Hold the UN Accountable -- Wednesday, December 4, 1:00 p.m. ET --  This webinar, hosted by The Group of 78, features guest speakers Adam Sneyd  and Ruby Dagher.  In this webinar, Adam Sneyd will discuss some of the bias and hidden politics of UN goal-setting. He argues that the SDG project is all about maintaining the status quo. To radically reduce unsustainable patterns of consumption and production, Adam is convinced that we will need an independent international commission to recalibrate the UN's goal-setting process and deliver on the promise of sustainable development. • Forced to Flee -- The Canadian Foodgrains Bank has developed this educational activity to engage Canadians in meaningful discussions about forced migration and its impact on food insecurity. This experiential activity offers a glimpse into the challenges faced by those forced to leave their homes, navigating tough decisions and balancing food, money, and health in each scenario.  The simulation presents you with real-life scenarios and choices, each with both upfront costs and hidden costs for every decision that you make. What will it cost you to make it to safety? The simulation will take just 5 to 10 minutes of your time. Click here to begin.
