Schools do not exist in social isolation from their communities. The way teachers behave can reflect the beliefs, attitudes and prejudices existing in the wider society around them. Education and its teachers have a central role to play in challenging the negative social norms that drive gender-based violence and to ending violence in schools and in their communities.
