GRAN Learning Event: Four Stories About Food Sovereignty - April 28th 3 p.m. ET

Dear GRANs,

You are invited to our online learning event, Four Stories About Food Sovereignty, on Wednesday, April 28, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET.  Please join us as we expand our understanding of food sovereignty and food insecurity, in particular of how the climate emergency is affecting smallholder farmers in South Africa and beyond.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Elizabeth Vibert of the University of Victoria, a social historian and director of the “Four Stories” research project, which draws together food producers and researchers from four continents to examine historical and contemporary food crises and community responses.  A significant component of Dr. Vibert’s work is with the women of the Hleketani Community Garden (The Thinking Garden) in Limpopo Province, South Africa.  To see a two-minute trailer for “The Thinking Garden” documentary film click here.

All GRANs are welcome to participate. We also encourage you to share this invitation widely, with friends, family, and your community networks.

Please register here by Friday, April 23rd.

Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email that will include the Zoom link for the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you at what we expect to be an informative and heartwarming hour together on the 28th!
