GRAN Learning Event – In Conversation with Elsie Bokaba

Please join us for a GRAN Learning Event coming up on Thursday, February 1 at 12:00 noon ET.

Elsie Bokaba, a Master of Arts in Philosophy candidate at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa, will be joining us to share her research and her passion for the often-neglected role of older women in rural South Africa.

African grandmothers have always played fundamental roles in their homes and communities. However, the patriarchal system adopted post-colonialism minimizes their value within the societal structures of today. Yet, the knowledge preserved by grandmothers and shared down through the generations will be essential in helping to address the environmental issues now facing their communities.

Elsie will highlight the unique environmental values that African grandmothers hold, and the contributions they can make in tackling the environmental crisis in the Global South.

We hope you will join us!  Click here to register.
