Canada announces funding for global education

At the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development announced more than $398 million in international assistance funding to support education, health, and humanitarian assistance. This commitment includes $300 million for the replenishment of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and $60 million for the replenishment of Education Cannot Wait (ECW). These two global funds for education are complementary. The GPE partners with more than 90 lower-income countries to help them build and strengthen their  education systems, while ECW helps to ensure that children and youth have access to safe, quality education in the midst of humanitarian emergencies and protracted crises.
