Education

Education is a fundamental human right, and yet, 272 million children are out of school worldwide.

We know the importance of education. It empowers women and girls, improves incomes, contributes to good health, reduces the likelihood of child marriage, and serves as a driver for economic development. And it is why GRAN advocates to promote quality and equitable education for all children everywhere. This includes the access to education in humanitarian, emergency, and protracted crises, the need for safe schools, and also ensuring that learning opportunities are available for people of all ages.

Global Partnership for Education

The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is the largest global fund solely dedicated to transforming education in lower-income countries. The GPE brings together multiple partners invested in education — lower-income countries, donors, international organizations, civil society, including youth and teacher organizations, the private sector and private foundations — to transform education systems, focusing particularly on the places and people with the greatest needs.

For over two decades, the GPE has been delivering funds and supporting solutions to build strong and resilient education systems in countries characterized by extreme poverty or conflict so that more children, especially girls, get the education they need to succeed and thrive.

GRAN, along with our partners, advocates to ensure that Canada commits to paying its fair share to the GPE.
