I am a constituent in your riding and a member of the Grandmothers Advocacy Network (GRAN). I am writing to seek your support in urging Canada to contribute its fair share to the Global Fund to fight HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. I attach a background note for your information here.
The Global Fund, created in 2002, is widely regarded as one of the most effective and efficient funding mechanisms for combating these deadly, yet preventable, diseases. The fund also strengthens local health delivery systems, which has been crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 7th Replenishment Conference for the Global Fund will take place in September 2022.
Canada has a proud history of supporting the Global Fund. We ask that this laudable record continue. Let Canada be a leader in this fight against the pandemics of HIV, TB, and malaria.
